With spring just around the corner, Danka has passed on some wise words on dealing with unwanted visitors in the garden (without blasting them with chemicals).
Apparently, bugs hate the strong smell of lavender, thyme, mint and rosemary, so planting these can keep them away from your flowers and plants – while also making your garden smell lovely. You can protect cabbages and cucumbers from caterpillars by dampening the veggies then sprinkling them with flour. And if slugs are a problem, Danka suggests you spread ash around the base of the plant, which will should stop the slugs in their tracks.
Good luck!
